Why Hacker News recommends it

HN people recommend it for its interesting, if contested, theory of cancer's root cause, noting the content matters more than the delivery.

What it is

A lecture by Prof. Thomas Seyfried arguing that cancer is primarily a metabolic disease rather than a genetic one. It covers the Warburg effect, mitochondrial damage and implications for therapies.

Here is a video on "Cancer as a Metabolic Disease: Implications for Novel Therapies" [1] by Prof. Thomas Seyfried that may be related. I think their research is very promising. [1] - [this video] [video]

Sorry to hear your are going through this. Here are a few I have found interesting. I am not a doctor and by no means is any of this something I am suggesting. There are some other compensating controls that can mitigate cancer but it takes some willpower which I suppose is an entirely different topic all together. This video [1] is worth a watch to learn a bit more about cancer as a metabolic disease. [1] - [this video] [video]

I find this video [1] interesting as it pertains to the root cause of cancer. Compelling theories anyway. [1] - [this video] [video]

As does glucose and L-Glutamine. Cancer cells literally live off of glucose, specific amino acids and fermentable fuels. What is the FDA's stance on banning sugar? I would prefer we focus on eliminating molecules from the diet that feed cancer cells and damage mitochondria. I believe we should also cycle up/down molecules that trigger an up-regulation of NRF2/AMPK to literally digest the senescent and especially the damaged cells prior to them becoming cancerous. I am not really a fan of NR/NMN anyway. Both are more expensive than NAM and my body already converts NAM to NR/NMN, it's just a lot slower than superloading NMN directly, not to mention NMN alone will only activate the Sirt genes b

The idea that people are imagining this, as other commenters have put forward, is nonsense. The idea that people are just getting old and drink too much soda isn’t right either although it’s close. The reason why people report similar or overlapping symptoms is because they all have a problem with their immune systems. Overactive immune systems tend to cause a certain set of symptoms. The immune system is very complicated, very broad in its jurisdiction and very poorly understood. It is scientifically proven that certain chemicals (common food additives for example) cause no immune (allergic) response at all whatsoever, but cause an immune response to other chemicals. So the immune system is

“ meaning we’ve been wrong about some basic ways in which the brain and immune system are connected.” I’ve been screaming this at my doctors for years. For those who don’t want to read the article, the quote sums it up. They discovered new lymphatic vessels in the brain in 2016 where previously the brain wasn’t thought to have any. 2 years ago I had a stressful life event. I became schizophrenic because of it. I accidentally discovered that ketosis cures the schizophrenia. It turns out a doctor at Harvard has been sounding the alarm about this and nobody is listening to him [1]. After researching these things somewhat deeply, it appears that almost all diseases that involve the death or inac

Another possibility could be what people consume and how much of it, if we start to accept that cancer may be a metabolic disease. [1] [1] - [this video] [video]
