A better option is to go with Redux [LINK] . Redux is enabling use cases like yours in a way simpler fashion :) It will help you with all the state and make your life much easier. I recommend having a solid grounding in React before approaching Redux. This will help you understand state better. Redux is better for larger applications. You can learn some React basics at codeacademy.com. For redux, a series that helped me understand the basics better is the learncode.academy youtube series at: [this video]

You cannot dispatch to JSX. Dispatch is used to send information to redux, where it is captured by reducers and middleware and that returns a data which will be stored in redux. So dispatching something in JSX(inside the return of your render) will cause error. I don't know how should I return the state in the reducer function Reducer has nothing to do with your JSX. Reducer returns immutable state values which will be stored in store. You an only access these data from the store using this.props.state_variable_name after connecting your component to store using connect() . should I apply Redux in functions Redux can be considered as a temporary storage area for your application, where you h

I'm starting a new React app and, seeing all the news in the ecosystem, I want to go slow and actually consider my choices, starting with just React/Webpack/Babel, and introducing more. The first of these choices is whether to use Flux or not (more precisely, Redux, which looks great and seems to have won the flux wars). Here is where I am: I understand Redux's benefits, summarized on SO by Dan Abramov [LINK] . They look great, but I'd rather introduce things one step at a time. In plain React, parent→child communication is done with props, and child→parent communication happens with callbacks. See Doc / Communicate Between Components [LINK] , or SO / Child to parent communication in React (
