What it is
A 9-minute screencast by Stuart Lodge introducing the Windows Phone Test Framework, an open-source (Ms-PL) project from Expensify. It shows a command line tool for driving the emulator, a SpecFlow-based test environment, and the libraries underneath (COM emulator control, Silverlight Automation over WCF, mouse and keyboard input).

according to the first few seconds of [this video] "there is some support for devices". I would hope/expect all devices to devices to behave the same way, subject ot how they're configured.

What are you actually looking to test? If you are looking to unit test the 'hub' that listens for and republishes errors, then you should be able to do that easily - just create an nunit test and one or more mock subscribers - then you can test sending one or more messages. If you are looking to test some of your services or view models to check that they correctly report errors, then create unit test for them with mocks which simulate the error conditions - in the test, Assert that the errors are correctly reported. If you are looking to just manually trigger the ui as part of development, then either find some way to reliably trigger an error (e.g. providing an incorrect password or switch

I don't understand why you specified "Install xap file" but I think you are looking for Expensify [LINK] Good news is its free and open source, and records the user action to perform automated functional tests on emulator. you can find youtube demo video here [this video] This also supports Android and IOS so if you have same app for android and app you may reuse plenty of testing code.
