There is React hook that is specifically made for this situation, useContext . Look into it here [LINK] . I also found this tutorial [this video] to be very helpful on this topic.

You need to treat these options just like handling state in a single component, but with the mentality that it's for your global state (hence, Redux). If your tree doesn't branch out to where component A has no way of talking to component B AND you need to access this state in either case, AND you are not changing this state constantly, I would recommend using useContext instead of Redux. This is a fundamental concept within React, and state isn't "RESTful". You are either initializing it, setting it, or reading it. Take 13 minutes and check out this video on useContext [this video]

You can start with this . [this video] you can find bunch of videos on youtube . Idea is to save the data for all pages at one place in application and then use it at the last page . You can use this approach as well [LINK] 'green'%20%7D%20%7D)%3B

You can achieve that functionality by either using local state or context Local state: setup your const [user, setUser] = useState(); hook on top of AppBar and Profile components. Then pass down user as prop on the AppBar component and pass down setUser on the Profile component, you would need to create an internal component inside Profile that would take this prop and then be rendered inside the Authenticator component. Context: It is a similar process as above but you need to use the React.createContext(<<context_data_here>>) syntax. I would suggest using this approach if your app need access to user on many components. If that is not the case using local state is recommended. If you are n

I followed the recipe from this video and it works: [this video] My use case is the following. I have application state including: user details and whether the backend including database is live or not as part of my custom application context so I can propagate that data downstream to all components without having to pass it explicitly - reminds me a bit of Scala's implicits btw but let's not digress. I define my custom Application context like this: export const AppDataContext = React.createContext({ appData: {user: undefined, checkLive: true}, setAppData: () => {} // TBD later }); export default const AppDataContextProvider = (props) => { const [appData, setAppData] = useState({user: undefined,

My goal is to use custom hooks created from Context to pass and modify stored values The final goal is to use something like useFeedContext() to get or modify the context values What I am actually getting is either the functions that I call are undefined or some other problem ( I tried multiple approaches) I tried following this video basics of react context [this video] in conjunction with this thread How to change Context value while using React Hook of useContext [LINK] but I am clearly getting something wrong. Here is what I tried : return part of App.js <FeedProvider mf={/* what do i put here */}> <Navigation> <HomeScreen /> <ParsedFeed /> <FavScreen /> </Navigation> </FeedProvider> Main pro
