What it is
A short 2014 explainer from WebConcepts that introduces what an API is and how REST APIs work. It walks through live example calls to Facebook's Graph API, Google Maps geocoding, Instagram's Media Search API and Twitter's Status Update API, and touches on HTTP request methods and the Postman tool.

I am working on a twitter App using Python 2.7 and the latest version of the tweepy module. One thing I cannot figure out is how to use the function rate_limit_status() Here is my code: import tweepy, time, sys, random, pickle import pprint # argfile = str(sys.argv[1]) #enter the corresponding information from your Twitter application: CONSUMER_KEY = '' CONSUMER_SECRET = '' ACCESS_KEY = '' ACCESS_SECRET = '' auth = tweepy.OAuthHandler(CONSUMER_KEY, CONSUMER_SECRET) auth.set_access_token(ACCESS_KEY, ACCESS_SECRET) api = tweepy.API(auth) public_tweets = api.home_timeline() user = api.get_user('@MyUserName') print api.rate_limit_status() When I print the results of the function it gives me a la

The best way to do this would be to implement an API on your domain that your app can send requests to. I cannot explain all this in detail here because it would require a lot of space and a full blown tutorial, but I can tell you what to research and what to implement to make this happen. First off you need to create an API for your app to send requests to. I suggest a "RESTful" api as they are pretty strait forward to the average programmer. Here is a good video that explains what an API is and a little bit of how they are typically implemented. [this video] After you have an API setup, you have "encode" the information so that it is easy to parse once your app has a hold of all that informatio

Yes you can do this and its possible. First of all you need to create a connection that you Ionic App can communicate with your Website. That is Called an API. If we dont use any big tech Words to explain this. The Common practice is build a REST-API first. Its a Link, and when you goto the link, the link will give you data in a Format JSON or XML. So your App can Parse the JSON/XML Data and display in your Ionic App. Example. [LINK] [LINK] you will call the first link from your App in GET protocol and this will give u a list of users in JSON Format. you will call the second link from your App in POST protocol with User Parameters and this will add a user and Will give you Success or Error J

It doesn't look like there is a library to use Classroom in swift. You are going to have to write your own code to hit the API and consume the JSON. I would use something like alamofire [LINK] to make the network requests for the JSON. Then use codables [LINK] to parse the JSON. The google documentation [LINK] is going to be your friend to learn how to hit the API. If you don't know what an API is this [this video] youtube video should give a nice overview. If it still doesn't make sense, keep researching REST API's. Best of Luck!

Let's say I have one Text File (Size 1 GB). I want to search particular word from file and if it is found the Line number should be returned. I can Execute my java program using command line in linux. But what I want is some Interface using REST API. When I submit that word in GUI(My Interface) and submit request it should be able to call HDFS , commands should be provided by itself and it should return me the result. How Can you approach this problem ? (I have very primitive knowledge about REST API) Referred [LINK] [this video]

This is going to be tough. Usually, an application communicate with a web service. A web service may be a Rest API , Firebase or any hosted service that can provide data (I don't know all of the subtilities of it). Explaining to you how all of this works wouldn't work here as it will be objective as every application have different needs and every developper have preferences on how he want his application to communicate with the world. One thing you should avoid at all costs would be to access an online database directly from your application as it is a huge security flaw. Here are some links that will help you understand better all of this. REST API concepts and examples [this video] Make an HTT

The usual architecture is following: Spring boot application is the server - it listens for requests from clients and answers them with responses Android app , web app , etc. is the client - it sends requests to server and processes the responses The structure of the requests and responses is called an API (Application programming interface) . You may develop your own API from scratch or better follow a standard - e.g. REST API [this video] . Example (when using REST API): User in the android app (client) clicks on Show todos button. The android app sends an HTTP request to the server: GET /todos The server (spring boot app) responds with HTTP response containing a list of todos in JSON format: [
