What it is
A 14-minute jQuery tutorial from Codecourse that shows how to submit an HTML form with AJAX. It collects the form's field values with jQuery, sends them with $.ajax to a server-side URL, and logs the response, using a reusable 'ajax' form class.

I've been following this tutorial from [this video] !, and it just don't want to work the way I want it to. I got this code in my index.php: <form action="scripts/keys.php" class="ajax" method="post"> <p>Key:</p> <input type="text" name="key" class="key_input" autocomplete="off" autofocus /> <input type="submit"> </form> This code in my main.js: $('form.ajax').on('submit', function(){ var that = $(this), url = that.attr('action'), type = that.attr('method'), data = {}; that.find('[key]').each(function(index, value){ var that = $(this), name = that.attr(''), value that.val(''); data[name] = value; }); $.ajax({ url: url, type: type, data: data, success: function(response) { console.log(response); }

It probably won't help too much if i just tell you how to do it all, you're probably best to spend some time getting familiar with HTML, PHP and Javascript, it seems like you might be missing a few key concepts. For now, i'd say ignore the javascript part and just focus on the form submission and validation on the server. TL;DR I suggest starting with a video like this: Build a PHP contact form [LINK] , that should cover some of the basics of form submission and error checking (validation). Then start looking at how to combine javascript and PHP with something like this: Submitting a form with AJAX [this video] Hope that helps!

Hi I’m quite new to jquery -ajax and I’d like some help please to join it with CI. I have followed this tutorial on Submitting a Form with AJAX [this video] and I’d like to add this functionality to my CodeIgniter site. What I’d like to do is when the user submits the form, if there are any validation errors to show the individually on each input field (as in native ci process), or if this is not possible via validation_errors() function. If no errors occured to display a success message above the form. Here's my code so far: my view // If validation succeeds then show a message like this, else show errors individually or in validation_errors() in a list <div class="alert alert-success">Success!<

I want to create a form with HTML with different types of inputs (such as name, surname, dates, and radio-button options), and when I want to print the object with the data inputted in the form on the console, the value from the radio-buttons is not stored correctly. First of all, this is my first project on this area and also my first posted question on stackoverflow, so I would appreciate some suggestions on how to pose the question better if I'm forgetting some crucial data. I have been following help from different resources (mostly youtube videos such as: [this video] ) to create this form and submit the data with AJAX, and the code of my javascript application comes mainly from that video.
