while going through the emacs as a c/c++ editor [this video] , I came across the following lines of code to include in my ~/.emacs file, to connect to melpa archives for package installation (require 'package) (add-to-list 'package-archives '("melpa" . " [LINK] ")) (package-initialize) after saving these lines into emacs , when i started emacs it is showing me an wrong type argument: arrayp, nil in the minibuffer area when i tried for $ emacs --debug -init , I got : Debugger entered--Lisp error: (wrong-type-argument arrayp nil) package--add-to-archive-contents(nil "melpa") package-read-archive-contents("melpa") package-read-all-archive-contents() package-initialize() eval-buffer(#<buffer *load*>

I want to add C auto-completion at least so that I can use Emacs on a regular basis as my C editor. I am new to Emacs, and I had already it installed in my system, because it came with the OS (I think). It's version is 22.1.1. I'm trying to follow the following tutorial: [this video] To add auto-completion to Emacs, and we started by adding the following code to the ~/.emacs file: ; start package.el with emacs (require 'package) ; add MELPA to repository list (add-to-list 'package-archives '("melpa" . " [LINK] ")) ; initialize package.el (package-initialize) But when I save the file ~/.emacs and start Emacs again, I get the following message: An error has occurred while loading `/Users/cell/.emac

So I'm following this guide [this video] and when I go to M-x package-list-packages there is no auto-complete in the directory. ; start pacakage.el with emacs (require 'package) ; add Melpa to repository list (add-to-list 'package-archives '("melpa", " [LINK] ")) ; initialise package.el (package-initialize) This is my ~/.emacs file.
