In GWT 2.4 there will be drag and drop support I think. With this new feature you can add drag and drop support to almost every widget. Right now 2.4 is in bèta. At Google I/O there was a sessions about GWT and drag and drop. You can watch it here: [this video]

The GWT drag&drop implementation is based on the HTML5 D&D API [LINK] . Such API basically allows you to transfer data using native drag&drop. That means you can, for instance, drag things from outside the browser. Simplifing, you need to setup a drag element, a drop target and the DataTransfer object which will hold the actual data to transfer. I guess it can also be used to simulate drag&drop of DOM elements (say, widgets) within an app by creating&destroying (on dragstart and on dragend ), but its purpose is different. Since this API is rather new, not every browser natively support it. See [LINK] . See also this video [this video] along with its presentation [LINK] to get you started. On the

I heard that drag and drop feature has finally come to GWT 2.4, i know how to use it through this video [this video] However, that video only show using drag and drop to transfer string. I want to get the object that is being drag, is it possible to do so?

I have a GWT CellTable - it's a pretty simple table with just a single string column. What I'd like to do is drag rows of this table to a drop target (actually another table). I've been trying to figure out how to attach a draggable event as described at ~23:00 of this video [this video] . To which CellTable element can I set the draggable flag to TRUE. I haven't gotten this far yet, but I'm sure I'll soon face a similar issue in setting the drop handler on the target table. If someone could post an example or point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful.
