I am trying to create a pdf from a laTex document in Atom. I looked for a solution for a while now, and it seems that I need to link my bibliography but I cannot understand how to do that. I put the files: documentWithoutMistakes.tex and references.bib in the same directory. I copied a google scholar citation in references.bib file. Then I followed this tutorial [this video] step by step, generated the file in Atom (open doc.tex) and then published the pdf. It seems that at some point the person links his bib file but it is not explained how to do it in mac, or I just do not understand it. LaTex gave me the following error report: LaTeX Warning: Citation `.' undefined on input line 14. Underfull

I watched a tutorial on using bibtex, How to Generate References with LaTeX (BibTeX) [this video] , and the trick for getting it to work is using f11 - f1 keys. Meaning, Create a .bib file and a .tex file, In the .tex file use the bibliography style environment, like this: \bibliographystyle{apacite} and \bibliography{biblio.bib} Type f11 many times followed by f1 . I would like to know the non keyboard shortcut of f11 , and f1 , please. Because al the f keys on my keyboard are not easy to deduce in an HP laptop running Windows 10 and TexWorks. I have a .bib file, but the keyboard shortcuts do not work for me, and when I try to compile the file, it says The style file: apacite.bst I found no \cit

Thank you, your answer is really helpful, I just had an idea to put the whole bibliography in the separate file like it is shown in this example [this video] . Yes, if I include cite package the problem solves, so you have answered the question, thanks, but I don't understand why if I use the "apacite" style I have an error? ( there should be \bibliographystyle{apacite} in my code, as you noticed, sorry for my erratum)
