Here is a brief solution to your problem: Create a class that will make objects with the following attributes: categoryName,CategoryDescription and category_image. You need to be able to parse the JSON and when you do it, make objects of the above class: watch this [LINK] Use a RecyclerView with a GridLayoutManager( here is a helping video [this video] , it uses a LinearLayoutManager, so you have to use a GridLayoutManager instead) GridLayoutManager arranges the items in a two-dimensional grid, like the squares on a checkerboard. Using a RecyclerView with GridLayoutManager provides functionality like the older GridView layout.

Heyhey. The best way, also performance wise would be to use a recyclerview. There is a lot of documentation about that on the internet. Since I am a beginner I most of the time use Yt tutorial which cut the deal as well. Since this guy help me a lot I want to make a shout out to him. RecyclerView by Mitch [this video] He shows you how to use the Recyclerview and with a bit more code on your post I might be able to help you aswell.

Before venturing much further...this could be an example of the XY Problem. Maybe have a look at the RecyclerView option? RecyclerViews are entirely designed to manage the UI look and responsiveness of changing/scrolling data sets. They can be a bit "what the heck" at first...but once writing them a few times, your UI look and code base is a lot more efficient and clean. RecyclerView example Youtube [this video]

The best solution is, if you use recyclerview with adapter. It's a pretty good tutorial [this video] . Obviously in the relativ layout part, you need use wrap content and match parent.

You can try to use RecyclerView . I think this is the best option when You load many items, in Your example contacts. RecyclerView is faster than a simple scroll view, it looks better, and has many many customization options. Let's go through code. This line here ArrayList<GridEpisode> episodelist = tvShowEpisodeLoader.getEpisodeList(); So what we have here an ArrayList of GridEpisode data model. Now coming to your ListView Adapter. This line here // Create The Adapter ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(getActivity().getApplicationContext(), android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, episodelist); As you can the Adapter you are trying to create here is of ArrayAdapter<String> the String class and what you are passing to it is the episodeList so that is why it showing you can error since it is expecting a String type object. What you need is a Custom Adapter for your ListView. This link [LINK] will

I am a new Android Studio user, also new to Java. I am building a new project, and followed this tutorial to add a RecyclerView to my project: [this video] . The app appears to build correctly, but now immediately crashes on opening on my device. It was working fine before that. The error messages lead me to the auto-generated files that were created during this process. I have tried following the error messages to the files, and cannot figure out how to fix them if that is indeed the problem. In searching for a solution with the search terms 'recyclerview', 'android studio' 'cannot resolve symbol' etc., I found several recommendations to upgrade to Android Studio 3.3. I was already on 3.4.0, but
