What it is

A two-hour step-by-step course by Marcus Hellberg of Vaadin that builds a CRM-style web app entirely in Java with Spring Boot and Vaadin Flow. It covers views, forms, database access, validation, routing, charts, Spring Security login, PWA support, unit, integration and end-to-end tests, and deployment to Heroku with PostgreSQL.

Vaadin Flow 14 versus 22 The Question asks about the Vaadin 14 + Spring Boot tutorial by Marcus Hellberg. As of 2021-09-30, Hellberg has posted a new version of that tutorial aimed at Vaadin 22 rather than 14. This Answer addresses the version 22 tutorial. See tutorial video posted on YouTube [this video] . See written tutorial web page [LINK] on Vaadin.com site. Install pnpm first, then Node.js & npm Vaadin Flow relies on some third-party tools to accomplish its JavaScript & Web Components chores. Those tools include: pnpm [LINK] Node.js [LINK] npm [LINK] Later versions of Vaadin Flow are designed to auto-install these tools with Vaadin itself. Unfortunately, that auto-install fails on Macs havi

The question is about Vaadin 8, but you will also get this error when doing the tutorial with Vaadin 10 and 11. Seems like the reason for that is that @SpringUI was replaced by @UIScope in Vaadin 10 and higher [LINK] . Since the tutorial linked is therefore out of date, I would recommend this tutorial [this video] as an up to date alternative.

At this point [this video] in a demo video on YouTube, a context menu is displayed. Items include: Update usages to reflect signature changes… Create filed for parameter 'statusRepository' Safe delete 'statusRepository' Bind constructor parameters to fields Put parameters on one line Generate overloaded constructor with default parameter values Here is a screen shot. I'm following a Vaadin/Spring Boot tutorial and they're using lambda functions in a way that I don't really understand. If someone could maybe help explain why they work and what the function is doing? I've tried watching some videos and I'm fairly new to this side of more complex Java programming since I've only been using Java for about a year. private void configureGrid() { grid.addClassName("contact-grid"); grid.setSizeFull(); grid.setColumns("firstName", "lastName", "email"); grid.addColumn(contact -> contact.getStatus().getName()).setHeader("Status"); grid.addColumn(contact -> contact.getCompany().getName()).setHeader("Company"); grid.getColumns().forEach(col -> col.setAutoWidth(true))

Cites Jmork · 2023-05 · Stack Overflow · on “How to add Vaadin to an existing Spring Boot project and make Vaadin actually start/build my frontend plus routes?”

Hellо аll, I have a Spring-boot project that currently doesn't have any frontend/UI. Here [LINK] is the public repository that you can find all of the code. Notice that it won't run without an SQL server set up in application.properties file/environment variables. Here [LINK] is another repo of a project that actually uses/starts Vaadin and builds the frontend. I tried adding Vaadin dependencies into my POM.xml. Here are the dependencies I added: <properties> <java.version>11</java.version> <vaadin.version>24.0.5</vaadin.version> </properties> <!--adding vaadin!--> <dependencyManagement> <dependencies> <dependency> <groupId>com.vaadin</groupId> <artifactId>vaadin-bom</artifactId> <!-- declar
