What it is
A short 2013 Android tutorial from the slidenerd channel showing how to build a custom ListView backed by a BaseAdapter. It walks through defining string and image resources, a single-row XML layout, the ListView in the main activity, and a BaseAdapter subclass whose getView method maps data to row views.

This guy is great [this video] and he has many tutorials on listview. In short it sounds like you need a collection [LINK] to store listview items you want to display. You populate this collection from a content provider [LINK] or other datasource by running a query [LINK] from your edittext value and implement [LINK] the listview as normal. If you only display strings no need for custom adapter or extending baseadapter.

I see you found onitemclicklistner which is great but with a listview of buttons the buttons consume the click.the easy solution is replace buttons with textview or image icon.the other solution would be,and you can't use findviewbyid because you have to create an array of buttons and onitemclick listeners on each button in the array. So it would be done programaticly not in xml (the buttons anyway) Also I am not sure about your list adapter so YouTube slidenerd 89 custombaseadapterhttp: [this video]

Looks Like you want to generate some list. Generating it manually will slow down your application performance. For list generation you must use Listview and custom Adapter for that listview. I Recommend you to create custom BaseAdapter ( Here is an example [this video] ).

I needed some help with one of my new android projects. Let me just quickly explain the structure. My project has a MainActivity and within the activity I have 3 fragments which are accessible via the tabs on the app. On my very last tab/fragment I am trying to list all of the contacts on the phone along with a picture, name and number. I came across the following code for the name and number: Cursor phones = getContentResolver().query(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.CONTENT_URI, null, null, null, null); while (phones.moveToNext()) { String name = phones.getString(phones.getColumnIndex(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.DISPLAY_NAME)); String phoneNumber = phones.getString(phones.
