Why Stack Overflow recommends it
Stack Overflow users link it when they need a quick, practical walkthrough of SQL Profiler to capture the SQL that an app, ORM or legacy code actually sends to the database.

What it is
A 9-minute introductory screencast from techytube on what SQL Server Profiler is and how to use it. It shows how to start Profiler, create a basic trace from a built-in template, add extra events and columns, and filter what gets captured. It is the first video in a series on the tool.

Microsoft SQL Server Profiler can help to SQL Trace for monitoring an instance of the Database Engine or Analysis Services. You can capture and save data about each event to a file or table to analyze later. For example, you can monitor a production environment to see which stored procedures are affecting performance by executing too slowly. For more details about how to use it, check this link [LINK] or this video [this video] .

Another thing you can do, if you're using SQL Server, is run the SQL profiler to see what commands are actually going to the database. [this video] [LINK] Stick a debug point on the return statement and look at the list.

If every record in the database is being updated then it is likely that the WHERE clause is being lost somehow. This is normally down to bugs in concatenation. The best thing to do if you need to analyse further is to open up SQL Server Profiler and capture the SQL your script is generating. Check out this video [this video] Profiler is a core tool for debugging these sorts of problems.

Even if you never heard about it, you'll lean how to use it in 10 minutes. Look for a video tutorial in YouTube. For example [this video] It's not rocket science, believe me.

We're having a tough time debugging because our retired predecessor has a query statement that puts pulled data into a series of temporary tables before uploading to the database. It's not working now (we added items to TestPatterns table, and running for tp7 instead of tp21 so data may differ) and we're having a tough time debugging it. If we could somehow print or access the data put in the temporary tables, maybe we could debug it better. Any ideas on how to debug this better, and maybe see the data? We can print our first select/where statement, but not the data it pulls when the qry is executed. Plus there's the Source/Target sql merges we do. We know everything seems to work until we e
