Why Stack Overflow recommends it

Stack Overflow users link it when answering questions about Aeron's internals and fast one-writer, many-reader messaging, since it explains the design directly from its author.

What it is

Martin Thompson presents Aeron, an open-source messaging system built for consistent low latency and reliability, with interoperable Java and C++ implementations. The talk covers its design: lock-free, wait-free data structures, reliable delivery over UDP, and retransmission, from the Strange Loop 2014 conference.

the leader of project Disruptor: Martin Thompson [LINK] has this new project: Aeron [LINK] and it's super fast. What's more, it's already support C++ api. Check out the introduction video and article from highscalability: [this video] [LINK]

I bet you have found all answers but in case for future searchers: There are 2 implementation of Publication class : ConcurrentPublication [LINK] ExclusivePublication [LINK] I can recomend to watch Martin's video about how Aeron works [this video]

Recommends Martin Thompson · 2023-10 · Stack Overflow · on “Why aeron`s logbuffers divide into three selections?”

There are many reasons to why Aeron uses 3 buffers in rotation for a message stream. It is best to start with the talk referenced below and then look for other talks I have publicly given. The main points are that it enables an algorithm which is wait-free for concurrent publication and supports retransmits on the network in the event of loss. [this video]
