How Brushless Motor and ESC Work and How To Control them using Arduino
Why Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange recommends it
Electronics Stack Exchange askers cite it as the reference setup they copied or compared against when wiring an ESC and BLDC motor to a microcontroller, and when asking why theirs does not behave the same way.

What it is
A 12-minute tutorial from the How To Mechatronics channel that explains how brushless (BLDC) motors and electronic speed controllers (ESCs) work. It then shows how to wire a motor and ESC to an Arduino and control speed with a potentiometer, using an oscilloscope to show the control signals.

I am trying to use EMAX 20A ESC (Electronic speed control), but it does not work. I am supposed to hear some beeps. It is a 3 phase ESC. 1) I am using 12V from a computer power supply instead of 11.1V 3 cell battery 3S LiPo. Is this a problem? 2) 0 volts must be set on the yellow line before connecting the ESC to the power. I do that, but it does not help. I am using Raspberry Pi to send the control signal. GPIO 18 is connected to the yellow control line of the ESC. This is a video: [this video] that uses Arduino, instead of Raspberry Pi.

I have done s SE survey of BLDC motors and figured out they are essentially stepper motors but aimed for continuous torque [LINK] . Moreover they differ from brushed DC motors [this video] significantly in terms of control. I am building a linear rail for a camera (so the camera can be moved in linear axis) and the rail is quite long. I want to do position control over this rail. Can I use BLDC motors as rotary position encoders to control the brushed DC motors to move the rail precisely? The motor I have is from Seagate ee25.2 HDD and has 3 wires. Can such BLDC motors provide accurate position control? I have search but couldn't find a project for position control, I did find direction control [

My question: This is a simple design that I have created using everything that I know about electronics so far. Is there anything missing in my design or are there any concepts which I have misunderstood ? My design: Preliminary stage: An AC to DC adaptor that was originally used to power a phone was repurposed as a power-supply for an ESC which controls a BLDC motor. This power supply was used as a Lipo battery was not available. This adaptor was able to power this motor to a satisfactory level. The setup was adapted from a youtube video (link is at the bottom). [LINK] Proposed design Since the adaptor worked with one motor, it will now be used with four. Although this would drastically red
