Why Stack Overflow recommends it
Stack Overflow users link it to explain the -Wlifetime analysis flag and to cite Sutter's metaclasses proposal and other C++ evolution ideas.

What it is
Herb Sutter's CppCon 2018 talk on making C++ both more powerful and simpler. It covers his lifetime profile work for catching dangling pointers at compile time, including use-after-move diagnostics, and his metaclasses proposal for generating types at compile time.

This flag analyzes the local file to see if the code may use pointers to objects that are dead. You can see Herb Sutter cppcon video on YouTube where he explains this very well: [this video]
Cites Martin · 2018-10 · Stack Overflow · on “Get metaclass type in C++”
Background In his proposal [LINK] and also the CppCon talk [this video] , Herb Sutter suggests adding Metaclasses to C++. That enables the users to have a lot more flexibility in terms of creating and enhancing new types during the compilation time. One of the examples in the proposal is the creation of the interface metaclass or the plain-struct metaclass. In the current implementation of the C++ there are three keywords for declaring types: class , struct , and enum . Imagine that we've created a new metaclass plain_struct that enables us to write code like plain_struct User { string name; string surname; }; And later on we can have a function or a class-method that accepts a template parameter

@LightnessRacesinOrbit It's still a pet toy. Sutter gave a talk about it at the CppCon 2018 [this video] where he says where to find the paper about it. Sorry I'm late :D

In a CppCon talk ( [this video] at 5:00) Herb Sutter alluded to defun defun 3 being somehow a problem. After I googled it, it's still not clear to me why. Can someone elaborate?
