I just installed node.js. I tried writing node -v that should check the version - and it's not working. this is the output: > node -v ReferenceError: node is not defined at repl:1:2 at REPLServer.self.eval (repl.js:110:21) at Interface.<anonymous> (repl.js:239:12) at Interface.emit (events.js:95:17) at Interface._onLine (readline.js:202:10) at Interface._line (readline.js:531:8) at Interface._ttyWrite (readline.js:760:14) at ReadStream.onkeypress (readline.js:99:10) at ReadStream.emit (events.js:98:17) at emitKey (readline.js:1095:12) > I opened it using git - command: node I tried running it using "Git", thought maybe that's the issue and I get the exact same output. I am able to run node.js server on Hostmonster. When I surf to [LINK] , I get the expected html output (where 'domain' is replaced with my actual domain name). Now I wish to get an expressjs server running. After watching this tutorial for expressjs: [this video] , I created the exp2014 directory and files, ran the server, and successfully got the initial "Welcome to express" web page returned when I surfed from the command line with: curl [LINK] from within my Hostmonster account. The video shows how to set up an express server responding to "localhost:3000", so I adapted the url to my site, as above and ran with curl after ssh to my Hostmonster account. However, when I try curl [LINK] from outs

I just removed the whole folder and will do it again, I am learning node.js and moving from PHP to Node.js. I watched a tutorial here [this video] ; in the video the uploader makes a sample project and then opens a www file, which lies in the bin folder. He then changes the name my-application to app at exactly 4:58. I tried to do the same but i get a permission error.

I'm new at Node.js and I'm following this tutorial [this video] . Everything is doing fine, except when I try to return a json object, like this: router.get('/', function(req, res) { res.send({ users: ["Will", "Laura2"] }); }); The browser shows me the "users" object as a "document" type, not as an application/json type. The same occours to any type (status code, text/plain, and so on).
