You need to use cmake to build your project from source. You should check out this tutorial. It could be helpful for you. Setup VTK in Visual Studio [this video]

This is directly related to this question [LINK] about installing OpenCV with VTK (I am using Windows 8.1, OpenCV 2.4.10, and VTK 6.3.0). When I try to use CMake to re-build OpenCV with VTK it gives me an error regarding VTK_DIR. The VTK_DIR field has VTK_DIR-NOTFOUND as an entry and the configuration results state: VTK is not found. Please set -DVTK_DIR in CMake to VTK build directory, or to VTK install subdirectory with VTKConfig.cmake file My VTK build folder contains a VTKConfig.cmake file, and I also found the same file in the \CMakeFiles folder, although the contents are different. If I switch VTK_DIR to the \CMakeFiles folder then I get a pop-up window with the message: Error in confi

I'm using Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Edition. I followed this tutorial [this video] Like Visual Studio creates a .sln file when any new project is saved and then on building it executes it to build the project, in the case of this VTK tutorial, it uses CMake to create the build file .sln for Visual studio to execute. Is there any way I can automate/replace the process of CMake using Visual Studio only? PS- Just ignore if I have any misunderstanding of the concepts as I'm totally new to this and was not able to find proper documentation on it.

I am trying to build VTK [LINK] version 9.2.2 with CMake for a few days now, but no luck so far.
