Why Stack Overflow recommends it

Stack Overflow users link it as the go-to setup guide for getting OpenCV running in Android Studio without OpenCV Manager, then ask follow-ups when native code or JNI parts break.

Recommended by 2 people across 2 different months, 2015 to 2016.

What it is

A 10-minute screen-recorded tutorial from 2015 showing how to add the OpenCV Android SDK to an Android Studio project and initialize it statically with OpenCVLoader.initDebug(), instead of relying on the separate OpenCV Manager app. The presenter made it as a personal walkthrough after struggling to find a working method.

I have been implemented this project: [LINK] into Android Studio - to my own App. I included OpenCV using tutorial: [this video] (this is static initialization) and I created jni folder in src/main and I put these files [LINK] into it. This is Android.mk from this folder: LOCAL_PATH := $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) OPENCV_CAMERA_MODULES:=on OPENCV_INSTALL_MODULES:=on include C:/Users/Piotr/Desktop/Android_App/MyApplication/libraries/opencv/native/jni/OpenCV.mk LOCAL_SRC_FILES := DetectionAndRecognition.cpp LOCAL_C_INCLUDES := C:/Users/Piotr/Desktop/Android_App/MyApplication/libraries/opencv/native/jni/include LOCAL_LDLIBS += -llog -ldl LOCAL_MODULE := detection_and_recognition_lib include

Seems I had to search the web for a long time until I found the solution I decided to solve it once and for all for everyone : First I followed This video which is very helpful (All credit goes to the rightful owner) [this video] Later In my activity I have added static { if(!OpenCVLoader.initDebug()){ Log.d("DD", "Failed"); } else { Log.d("DD", "SUCCESS Opencv"); } } After that in on resume you should add : mLoaderCallback.onManagerConnected(LoaderCallbackInterface.SUCCESS); and that is it , if you have the line // OpenCVLoader.initAsync(OpenCVLoader.OPENCV_VERSION_3_1_0, this,mLoaderCallback); Remove it! Before I removed it , it didnt work. Hope it helps someone

I have been implemented this project: [LINK] into Android Studio. I included OpenCV using tutorial: [this video] (this is static initialization). Moreover, I set in Android Studio settings proper NDK location. Problem is that, if I add this Class: package com.yaylas.sytech.facerecognizer; import java.util.Vector; import org.opencv.core.Mat; import org.opencv.core.MatOfRect; import android.widget.Toast; public class DetectionBasedTracker { public DetectionBasedTracker(String cascadeName, int minFaceSize, boolean isFaceDetector) { mNativeObj = nativeCreateObject(cascadeName, minFaceSize, isFaceDetector); } public long getNativeObj(){ return mNativeObj; } public void setMinFaceSize(int size) { nativ

I'm trying to setup Android Studio with Opencv by following this tutorial outlined here: [this video] I can get the result obtained by the person giving the tutorial but upon trying to actually use some of Opencv's functions I run into some trouble. I am able to load the Opencv library but upon trying use some of the native functions such as "Imgcodecs.imread" I get the error: ".lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: No implementation found for long org.opencv.imgcodecs.Imgcodecs.imread_1(java.lang.String)" I believe I have tracked down the issue to the following: [![enter image description here][1]][1] It seems that Android Studio is unable to detect the native C++ code which I'm guessing should be picked u

so after a quick research you are right implementing OpenCV with Android Studio requires a few steps to actually get it working properly. Adding OpenCV to your new project Create a folder called “libraries” inside your Android Studio project, and copy there entire content of sdk/java out of your OpenCV Android folder. Rename that folder to “opencv”, so that you will end up having your Android Studio project with subfolder “libraries/opencv”. Now, inside this “opencv” folder, create a build.gradle file, with the following content: apply plugin: 'android-library' buildscript { repositories { mavenCentral() } dependencies { classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:1.3.0' } } android { compileS
