What it is
A 22-minute tutorial by TroubleChute on building OpenSSL from source on Windows with Visual Studio 2019 or 2017. This video is the most comprehensive instructions for building shared and static versions of OpenSSL - [this video] - This has all the steps and way better than the OpenSSL instructions and Windows notes.

I am getting a linker error, I'll post it at the bottom. The goal is only to build the example SSL client from boost. The overall question is just to find the simplest c++ way to download some xml from [LINK] Edit: The problem has evolved as I've continued to work on it. I now realize that I had no idea how to use a static or dynamic library or how either worked. I know a little now. I've built OpenSSL following this youtube video verbatim and it seems to have built properly. [this video] I'm now using the shorter example [LINK] and finally got it working which has helped enormously in identifying where the other errors are. I had to be really careful that I was using x86 Debug for everything and

I connected openssl to my project and it compiles and runs well, but next to the program after compiling there is a file libcrypto-3-x64.dll , without which the program will not run, so the question is how do I use openssl without this dll how to integrate it into the project? I found out what the problem is, with the dynamic library it does not exist, EVP_CIPHER_CTX_t ctx(EVP_CIPHER_CTX_new()); when I compile a program (static lib openssl) with this line there are so many errors unresolved external character (example __imp_getsockname) VERSION 3.0.5 I compiled the library according to this guide [this video] x64 static and still errors like this "unresolved external symbol __imp_WSAGetLastError"
