QGIS Quick Tip CAD tools
Why Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange recommends it
GIS Stack Exchange answerers point people to it when asking how to digitize features with exact distances, angles or orthogonal edges using QGIS's Advanced Digitizing panel.

What it is
A short QGIS 2.8 quick tip from Klas Karlsson covering snapping to all layers, temporary scratch layers, and the Advanced Digitizing panel with its CAD-style tools. The description lists the panel's keyboard shortcuts for entering X, Y, angle and distance values.

You do not need a plugin for this. The "Advanced Digitizing Panel" allows for entering distances and angles relative to the currently drawn path or relative to other objects on the map canvas. [LINK] There are also videos with instructions [this video] .

There's a video tutorial for shawty's answer: [this video] P.S. - I'm leaving it as an answer as I don't have enough reputation to leave a comment. P.P.S. - Has anyone solved the last point issue?

The Advanced Digitizing Panel has tools that will be of use for you. I use it to start a predefined point, move at a specified distance and angle to my point of beginning then begin digitizing from there specifying line lengths and angles. Here's a video tutorial for more information on the panel and the related trace tool: [this video] These tools became part of the standard installation as of QGIS 2.8.
