In AndroidManifest.xml, add the following element as a child of the element, by inserting it just before the closing tag : <meta-data android:name="com.google.android.maps.v2.API_KEY" android:value="your_api_key"/> You are missing <uses-permission android:name="com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES"/> <uses-feature android:glEsVersion="0x00020000" android:required="true"/> Few permissions are repeated remove them Go through the steps in the link. I doubt you have followed the steps from the below link. [LINK] . You can also follow the tutorial in the link below [this video] Edit : You also require <meta-data android:name="com.google.android.gms.version" android:value="@intege

deprecated means that they are no longer supported . Google has rolled out Google Maps V2 this year, april month, if not mistaken. From now all the new apps that need google maps must use google maps v2. Although apps using V1 key will continue to work. But new apps must use v2. check google site Google Maps V2 [LINK] . Also if you want a beginners tutorial on Google Maps v2 then see this youtube tutorial [this video] . Press check mark if this solved your question or mark it useful if it helped you in anyway.

I think can be two things Your coordinates are 0,0 and the map is opening in the ocean Something wrong with your API Key In the first case try zoom out a lot of times and try to see some continent. In the second try to read the documentation or/and try this link [this video] I hope this helps.

Thanx for all the help I realised I hadnt selected the Google APIs as @Kalpesh Lakhani pointed out so decided to start from scratch only that this time imported the lib project from google play services in extras, then under Project > Properties > Android > IsLibrary I referenced the libproject. Got a new key from Google API console, added all the permissions needed and under my main xml defined a new fragments as <fragment android:id="@+id/map" android:layout_below="@+id/text1" android:name="com.google.android.gms.maps.MapFragment" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" /> ,Ran the program and just the map is showing hopefully as I read on to tagging locatio

You cannot create a map activity inside another activity. You need to make a Fragment Activity and show the map there [this video] You can refer to the following video. Here is a sample code which should help. public class MainActivity extends android.support.v4.app.FragmentActivity implements OnMapClickListener { private GoogleMap mMap; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); // Try to obtain the map from the SupportMapFragment. mMap = ((SupportMapFragment) getSupportFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.map)) .getMap(); if (mMap== null) { Toast.makeText(this,"Google Maps not Available", Toast.LE

backend is not set up properly so nothing is being loaded into to map fragment, check your console to see if your maps api is enabled and your package is the same as the one specified in the console etc, i recommend you go through [this video]
