What it is

There is open source project from Google android developer for expanding Listview with animation. Here is the link: [LINK] And this [this video] is an explanation on YouTube of this project. I hope this could help you ..

You could try to calculate the number of lines yourself, or try to implement this, which I think is pretty neat : [this video]

Yes it will grow the Cell, the Cell Layout itself is typically wrap_content so it will grow. They are several DevBytes from Googles Android Team specific for that Topic. Check this Episode: DevBytes: ListView Expanding Cells Animation [this video]

In your case the best practice is creating base layout (extends common layouts e.g. FrameLayout or RelativeLayout) witch you will inflate in your own class witch will extends ListView class for all items of this custom ListView. When user clicks on list's item it extends and shows him all information about particular drug. This video is all you need, enjoy! [this video]

Rather than trying to replicate the listeners for each button, I would consider the buttons as groups. When you click on a button within a group, it splits into two groups: the button with the buttons above it and what you are leaving behind. The group is then dragged and dropped onto other groups. The groups could be LinearLayouts as Templerschaf suggests: You click the LinearLayout It registers which item Makes a new LinearLayout containing the items below that item in the correct position Deletes the items below the clicked item and resizes accordingly Then the layout can continue to be dragged It can then be dropped on another LinearLayout, which will add the items to its own list This i

So This is a complete duplicate of this [LINK] . In short, I used a regular list, made my own dropdown view, used a custom drop down animation and voila success (look at link for more description). Edit: Step by step guide: First I create the xml list_row: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android=" [LINK] " android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:id="@+id/row_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <RelativeLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/row_simple_parent" > <View android:id="@+id/row_simple_parent_invis_cover" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_height="s

I am trying to implement a listview where you can expand the cells (with a expanding/collapse animation), animation when delete a row, animation when add a row, etc. I thought it would be easy but all the external libraries I tried, they gave me problems. So I realized there are some official videos from Google where they explain and give us code for this kind of animations, example: [this video] (DevBytes: ListView Expanding Cells Animation). But in this video I have the first problems!!! At first point it works nice, looks like the Clock app from Android 4.4 (I don't know if I can find the code of this app somewhere). So, this ListView Cells Animation has a very nice animation, and it scrolls v

Hi i found this video on devBytes [this video] a nice expanding listView animation you can download the code [LINK] . This code works perfectly but when i try to add anything in the expanding layout like a button or a text my list view expands and shows the new elements but can never collapse. There was no errors or exception shown in the logcat and since i'am new in android i can't realy figure out where the problem is. After debugging my code i noticed that the expanded listview item dosen't enter the click listner method. This is the list_view_item.xml <LinearLayout xmlns:android=" [LINK] " android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:background="@drawable/b

When you perform translation animations on Views then those Views don't really move inside the layout. Its just visual for the User, but when it comes to layouting and/or measuring than any translation values are ignored. It is always as if the Views are not translated at all. What I am guessing you are doing right now is this: You react to the click event and expand the View you want to expand. You calculate how much the other Views need to move to accommodate the expanded View . Then you perform translate animations on those Views by much they need to move. And then as a result suddenly a few Views move off screen. This approach can actually never work. You always need to remember that a V
