What it is
A Global Cycling Network video that tests whether wider road tyres are actually faster, using Schwalbe One tubeless tyres on ENVE SES 4.5 AR Disc wheels with a 25mm internal rim width. It covers the trend toward wider tyres, lower pressures, grip, comfort and puncture resistance, and what that means for speed.

Two things to consider that are more important than wheel diameter in terms of bicycle efficiency. Edit: on research my reasoning is very wrong on the weight ratio... Wheel weight discussion [LINK] tyre width Wider tyres have increased rolling resistance, but will smooth out the imperfections in the road surface better than a thin tyre, leading to an overall better efficiency. Unfortunately the answer is the same as how you judge the quality of any product. Experience with the product, brand reputation, price (higher correlates somewhat with better performance) and searching for and reading reviews. With respect to your current tires, they are probably not worn out. Not even cheap tires wear out after only 750kms. Road tires have a very shallow 'tread' pattern that is really just cosmetic - bike tires are narrow enough to displace water easily and do not need tread to grip tarmac or concrete surface. I'm looking at riding again. I took a two year break after I crashed going down a hill when a tree branch was down and I went over my handlebars. I've always assumed that thinner tires were better for riding but I was watching this video [this video] from Global Cyclist Network. In the video the rider makes a strong argument for wider tires. What I'm wondering is there any literature or empirical studies that are public that show these results? I found some small things that corroborated this but I was sure this would be the right place to ask.
