Why Stack Overflow recommends it

Stack Overflow users link it as the beginner tutorial they were following when their code broke, often because the video's older Kotlin synthetics and Gradle setup no longer match current Android Studio.

I started learning Android development with Android Studio, I followed this [this video] tutorial about creating a Todo list app, which is pretty recent and still it seems like a lot of things have changed. So i have a few problems: In the tutorial he uses View.apply{}, when i tried it, it says Unresolved reference: apply And i haven't found anything about this function online, like it never existed. ([46:50] in the tutorial) He also create a MutableList<> variable and initialize it with mutableListOf(), I created the variable successfully, but I can't find the function mutableListOf(), or similar functions like arrayListOf() and so on. ([59:30] in the tutorial) On the same MutableList<> variable

I tried to follow this Traversy Media tutorial on creating a simple ToDo appliaction on Android [this video] . However, the way they've written the application no longer works as Android stopped supporting the Synthetic view bindings. I tried to rewrite the bindings myself, however the application now only displays new tasks with the "Example" name instead of the custom name that you fill for each task. Clearly the problem seems to be in the views. Here are my class files. MainActivity.kt package com.example.todo import androidx.appcompat.app.AppCompatActivity import android.os.Bundle import androidx.recyclerview.widget.LinearLayoutManager import android.view.View import com.example.todo.databind

I am new to android development and hence was following along a [this video] on how to make a basic todolist app. In between the tutorial I seem to be getting stuck, although I followed the video as such. The IDE says that inside the function 'onBindViewHolder', there are no import candidates for 'tvTodoTitle' (line 29) Im not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can someone please point out what I am doing wrong? I am using android-studio hdegehog TodoAdapter.kt package com.example.test import android.view.LayoutInflater import android.view.View import android.view.ViewGroup import androidx.recyclerview.widget.RecyclerView class TodoAdapter ( private val todos: MutableList<Todo> ) : RecyclerView.Adapter<T
