What it is
A short beginner tutorial from Mikeycal Meyers' Blender video editing series (Blender 2.7x era) on using the Video Sequence Editor. It covers selecting strips (shift-click and box select), grabbing them with constraints, and cutting strips with both soft cut and hard cut.

When you press K in the Blender VSE you will have a "soft" cut meaning you can always move the handles (left and right arrows) and get the frames that has been cut. I suggest to follow this (and the other) [this video] tutorial for VSE I've discovered today, the guy it's exceptionally clear in his explanations

I am back again. Whenever I see black frames at the end of video clip, I would duplicate the clip, return to the original clip and use the Hard Cut to chop off a part of clip with black frames. Press X to delete that unwanted part of strip. Next, go to duplicate clip and use Hard Cut to chop it into two strips. Remove former part of superfluous frames and join the remaining part to the end of the revised original. That is what I often do for motion graphics. If you are unfamiliar with the Hard Cut, see this video tutorial. [this video]

I sometimes make a duplicate of an uncut strip, keep that as a spare, hide it (hotkey H) or move it out of way. With the original strip, I split strips with either hotkey K for soft cut or Ctrl K for hard cut. This video tutorial is little OLD, but still useful for learning distinctions between soft cut & hard cut. [this video]

@hatinacat2000 With the hard cut (Ctrl K), you can drag the first/last frozen frame out further if you like. I learned that from this OLD tutorial (still useful). It teaches the distinction between hard cut (Ctrl K) and soft cut (K). [this video]

First of all, I can really recommend mikeycalmeyers videos on youtube [LINK] . He has a whole series exlaining how to do video editing with Blender. To answer your question, there are multiple ways to trim [this video] : Option 1) Select your video and audio by holding shift and right clicking on them. Then put the green marker at the moment in time where you want to make a cut. From the menu just below your video sequence editor (the one with the tracks) choose Strip > Cut (soft) at frame , or press the shortcut key K . This will split it into separate parts, so you can delete the parts you want to remove. Option 2) Select the arrows on the left side of both your video and audio tracks by holdin
