Why Ask Ubuntu recommends it

Ask Ubuntu users link it when laptop speakers or Bluetooth audio stay silent or too quiet and the fix may lie in the PulseAudio analog-output-speaker.conf file.

My answer comes from here. This is for the CF-31, but I suspect it's a similar problem. [this video] Basically you need to edit /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-speaker.conf, and add the lines described in the video. If this helps let me know and I will properly transcribe the full steps. Should be a quick fix if it works.

I have a brand new Ubuntu installation on a fairly old system. Getting the system to even start was a bit painful until I found this helpful blog post [LINK] . Anyway I'm typing from this machine running Ubuntu now and I have 3 audio outputs (I tried to take a screenshot of the settings - sound window with the drop-down menu for selecting output device but the screenshot key doesn't work unless the menu is closed. ): HSMI/DisplayPort 2 - GK104 HDMI Audio Controller Digital Output(S/PDIF) - Built-in audio Line Out - Built-in Audio The first one outputs to my monitor through the HDMI cable and it works fine, as far as I can't tell The second one I don't use, but it doesnt even stay selected -

I have recently installed Ubuntu 24.04 on my galaxy book 4 pro. Everything works fine, but I cannot hear any sounds with my device's audio output. After some searching, I found out that audio issues with devices using Realtek's alc298 was quite common. I tried the following things; 1. using verbs [LINK] 2. fixing analog-output-speaker.conf [this video] All of these do not seem to work. Plus, I found that my device shows that my audio is working fine. For example, in Pulseaudio, the sound bar is clearly moving but I cannot hear anything. [LINK] So does this mean that the OS is sending signals to the speaker but the speaker is not working? Then why do I hear sounds in Windows but cannot in Ubuntu?
