These look like chained|piped function and member calls (my C++ is rusty). AS @churill mentioned you need to find out how pointers and member functions work and then how to chain them (use the results of the last command for the next action). This isn't always great practice in C++ as a function may not return the expected result. A free C++ course one youtube you could try: [this video]

Watching this [this video] tutorial.From what I understand functions and void functions can be called and they would perform the code within them. However I don't understand the purpose of the variables within the parenthesis. The code won't work if even one of them is missing. However it seems like you can assign theses variables different names and it could still work. How do these variables connect / interact with each other? Referring to: 1.) double power (double base, int exponent) 2.) void print_pow (double base, int exponent) 3.) print_pow (base, exponent); #include <iostream> #include <cmath> using namespace std; double power(double base, int exponent) { double result = 1; for(int i=0; i

I'm currently new to C++ and I've been watching a tutorial series [this video] , but I'm having a big issue. My C++ code will not open a file no matter what I do, I've looked online and tried renaming it, the full path, everything I can think of. Here's my code, #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <cstring> #include <cerrno> #include <filesystem> int main() { std::ofstream file; file.open("hello.txt"); if (!file.is_open()) { std::cerr << "Error: " << strerror(errno) << '\n'; std::cout << std::filesystem::current_path() << std::endl; } file << "hello!"; file.close(); return 0; }
