create_ytdl_player was the old way of creating a player. With discord.py@rewrite [LINK] (> v.1.0), playing music is a bit more complicated. There are two ways to play music. For both ways, using FFmpeg will be necessary, so you'll have to install it [this video] . Here are two of ways to play videos (with youtube-dl and ffmpeg ): From file (you'll have to download files): from discord.ext import commands from discord.utils import get from discord import FFmpegPCMAudio from youtube_dl import YoutubeDL @bot.command(brief="Plays a single video, from a youtube URL") #or bot.command() async def play(ctx, url): voice = get(client.voice_clients, guild=ctx.guild) YDL_OPTIONS = { 'format': 'bestaudio', 'p

Alright ya'll, you were right. It was indeed an issue with ffmpeg- I didn't have it in my system environment variables For people in the future coming across this thread, here's a video telling you how to properly install ffmpeg so you can make sure that's not your issue [this video] Make sure you restart your coding application before testing, because I had to restart Atom for the changes to show up. Thanks to everyone for the help!

I am facing a problem "discord.errors.ClientException: ffmpeg was not found." after running the code import discord, nacl, ffmpeg from discord import FFmpegPCMAudio from discord.utils import get from youtube_dl import YoutubeDL client = discord.Client() @client.event async def on_message(message): if message.author == client.user: return if message.content.startswith('&' + 'join'): connection = message.author.guild.voice_client if (connection): await message.channel.send('**Перемещение в** ' + str(message.author.voice.channel)) await connection.move_to(message.author.voice.channel) else: await message.channel.send('**Подключение к** ' + str(message.author.voice.channel)) await message.author

Your question is a duplicate: Discord Music bot VoiceClient' object has no attribute 'create_ytdl_player' [LINK] But [LINK] has been taken down and is no longer accessible for plublic. So I'll add some more informations. EDIT youtube_dl re-opened for public so the previous solution [LINK] works again. If you still don't want to use youtube_dl : You'll have to use libraries like pafy [LINK] , which has still access to youtube-dl . Here's a short example: from pafy import new from discord import FFmpegPCMAudio @client.command(pass_context=True) async def play(ctx): ffmpeg_opts = {'before_options': '-reconnect 1 -reconnect_streamed 1 -reconnect_delay_max 5', 'options': '-vn'} channel = ctx.auth
