Attribution First I tried to install the amdgpu software for the particular videocard, but I was not able to get that working successfully. Furthermore, the ./amdgpu-install and amdgpu-pro-install scripts froze the terminal for a significant amount of time. Hence, after some trial and error I followed the steps from this video [this video] , which explains the/a more detailed- process suggested in the answer by TurboSlayer in this question [LINK] . I verified the instructions work by inspecting the output of both clinfo and rocminfo and observing the respective cards are indeed recognized in the output of both of these commands. I have updated from Ubuntu 16.04 to 20.04 . While doing so the uprade failed and I ended up doing a fresh install of 20.04. Fortunately, I have my home folder on another drive so that was saved. There was still a lot to recover. The last item I am stuck on is getting my AMD Radeon 580 GPU working. AMD does not support drivers for Ubuntu after 16.04. I tried installing OPENCL from this below page. And, I hope I installed the right software. To check for successful completion I have rocminfo and clinfo comands. Result of rocminfo

My main objective is to get OpenCl installed on my Ubuntu 20.04 given that I have a AMD-Radeon GPU so that I use render on Blender. As Blender does not see OpenCL, the rendering is presently done with my CPU. Before dealing with OpenCL, ROCM needs to be replaced to 4.2 version. Unfortunately no direct update is possible. I did a research on YouTube and I found an explanation [this video] The presenter states that ROCM needs to be installed leading the viewer to the installation guide [LINK] . The guide mention as prerequirement: Ubuntu 20.04.2 HWE . It also states that AMD ROCm only supports Long Term Support (LTS) versions of Ubuntu . I believe I have the LTS version. How to check this? The guid
