Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange answerers point people to it when a smoke or fire simulation looks fine in the viewport but shows no flames in a Cycles render, and askers cite it as the tutorial they were following.

What it is

A near one-hour Blender Guru tutorial showing how to set up a smoke and fire simulation in Blender and render it with Cycles. It covers the domain and flow setup, the flame attribute material, and a particle system for flying embers. It was made for Blender 2.73.

You could try this video: [this video] For GPU rendering you need a specific video card. Which video card do you have? For example NVIDIA is supported

Yes basically you should add a new attribute to the domain material called fire or flame (im not sure), check this tutorial its good: [this video]

By default, Blender does not add all the nodes necessary to create the "fire" aspect of the Smoke Sim to the Material Output. Basically you need to edit the material of the flame in order to make it visible in Cycles. 1.) There is an Attribute Node that must be added with the name "flame" . 2.) The Factor output goes into a Color Ramp Node that you will edit for the desired color. 3.) That Node's Color output will go into an Emission Node since fire "emits" light. 4.) You will then add that shader to the rest of the material shaders: [LINK] EDIT: I've included a .blend file below that has all the basic settings enabled and tweaked for creating a simple fire in Cycles: [LINK] [LINK] FYI, here

does the domain object have a domain materiel ? if it does not (have a materiel) follow this tutorial [this video] .

Although the quick smoke feature creates the texture nodes for the smoke, it doesn't for the flames. So when you render it, only the smoke is visible. This has been covered before on Blender StackExchange: [LINK] This is also covered in Blender Guru's fire tutorial: Blender Guru - Fire [this video]

I watched this blender guru tutorial on Making Fire [this video] . Around 34:00 he starts explaining how to use a particle system to create "fireflies". The result is something like this [LINK] Now I have this idea to create a "burning earth". For this I have a UV sphere inside the earth as an emitter of fire and smoke. And the smoke domain is placed like this. [LINK] This results in an image like this. [LINK] So far so good. But when I add a particle system to my "emitter sphere" the whole sphere is emitting fireflies and I want only fireflies around my fire. I thought to solve that by creating a circle under the fire and add a particle system to that circle. But how to get this working like tha

I started to create smoke according to Blender Guru tutorial [this video] . I made a circle mesh and added quick smoke to it and after that, I tried to render preview with Shift + Z and Blender crashed without any error. I use experimental mode in Blender 2.78 but toggling it has no impact, it still crashes. I also tried toggling between CPU and GPU, still no effect. What seems to be a problem? Without smoke, it renders fine. [LINK]

I am trying to create my first fire following a tutorial, as to be seen here: [this video] ? And now I want to click on the right side to change from domain to flow but for any reason when I do that all settings disappear together with my fire and I would have to restart all over if I wouldn't be able to hit ctrl+Z to get everything back again. Anybody got a solution? Thanks for the attention. [LINK]

i’m having a really bad time trying to follow one of Blender Guru’s tutorials. in his fire and smoke cycles tutorial ( [this video] ) his smoke particles appear realistically in front of the fire when played in the viewport. Mine however always has the fire rendered completely in front of the smoke, no smoke can be seen in front of the flames, this is especially apparent when viewed from the top down. Does anybody know what could be causing this? He is using blender 2.73 whereas I am using 2.79, could something have changed there? Here is his fire [LINK] and here is mine [LINK]

I don't understand how smoke is supposed to work in Blender 2.8 (Cycles rendering). No matter what I do, I cannot get a render of smoke. This is extremely weird, since the smoke renders perfectly fine in the 3D viewport: [LINK] I scoured the net and found this node setup that was supposed to fix the issue, but it doesn't actually do anything: [LINK] I followed the steps from this tutorial [this video] : Add object In object mode, Object -> Quick Effects -> Quick Smoke And immediately, the effect will work in the 3D viewport in all modes, but it will never render. Please help me, I've been trying to solve this for 3 hours and nothing helps.
