What it is
A 29-minute CG Cookie tutorial by Kent Trammel on modeling anime and manga style hair in Blender using Bezier curves. It covers setting up taper and bevel curve objects, duplicating variations of them, and populating the scalp with strands using Bezier handles.

CGCookie has a tutorial using curves [this video] to create hair. I doubt the last example you show used curves. This [LINK] can help with uv's.

There are a number of video tutorials on this subject that will provide a much better answer than we can here. I would suggest this one by Kent Trammel from CG Cookie: [this video] The result isn't exactly like the image you posted, but is similar enough that you should be able to adapt the techniques to your situation. The other way to make hair like you want is to sculpt it. There are a couple of good tutorials online about how to do that. Even tutorials for other programs like ZBrush can be a good way to find out how to do it. CG Cookie has a great tutorial on how to sculpt hair, but it appears that a subscription of sorts is required for this one (might be free, not sure). Here is the trailer

I will be honest. I suck with curves and don't get how they work but for now i don't have motivation to learn it. Unfortunately it seems to be the easiest way to make stylized hair. I've seen this tutorial ( [this video] ), the workflow looks super efficient, but my character hair are not pointy on the tips. I want them to be flat (or flat on one end and pointy at another) and still easy to edit as it was in tutorial. How to do that? I tested few addons but in this case they weren't good (or I also suck at using them). I'm posting example of hair I have in mind: [LINK]

So I made a model (of hair) using entirely bezier curves and a circle (using this [this video] tutorial) and plan to import it into Secondlife. All's fine and well, but I noticed I might need to use the decimate modifier to get rid of some of those extra vertices and transport it. However, you can't do that with curves, so I looked up how to convert curves into mesh and, low and behold, somehow none of the commands work. When I looked up 'covert' in the Object menu, both of the options (Mesh to Curve and Curve to Mesh respectively) are greyed out and I can't click 'em. Edit: Here's a screenshot of everything selected! [LINK] I've tried with and without the bevel taper objects selected, with and w

I'm pretty new to blender, and I followed this tutorial [this video] on how to make poly hair using bezier curves. The problem is, I want to make cc for the Sims 4, and I need to place a texture on my mesh [LINK] . And I have no idea how to do it. I've tried to convert the bezier to mesh, then UV unwrapping, but it has too many polys [LINK] and it gets messy [LINK] . Could anyone help me out? (In case it's easier this way: I have Autodesk Maya 2018 aswell)

I have made hair for my avatar using this tutorial: [this video] I followed it to make hair by using a bezier curve and shaped and tapered it with a bezier circle. I used multiple curves and circles, and as a result ended up with like 50 strands of hair. I need to join them together to have one manageable piece, but when I try to join locks from different circles, one of the locks will distort. [LINK] [LINK] Can anyone please help stop this from happening??? ASAP! Also, I tried to join a lock to the head instead, but it says no mesh data to join. Is this because I have mirror or subdivide modifier on? If I select the skin and then the lock of hair, ctlJ won't do anything at all.

Let's say you're following this tutorial [this video] but the curves get lost inside the mesh. Is there a way to always see the curves on top of the mesh, kinda how bones can be seen when posing?

I have a large block, and I want the edges of this block to have a cylindrical mesh centered along them, spanning the entire length of each edge. I want to be able to choose the cylinder's circumference. Ideally, it should follow the edges like the curves shown in the first five minutes of this video [this video] . If this is possible, how can I do it? If possible, please link a video, since I'm not very familiar with technical terms.
