What it is

Part 7 of CG Boost's Blender 2.8 beginner series, presented by Zacharias Reinhardt. It walks through Texture Paint mode by painting the handle and blade of a knife and then the apple and its stem, including saving textures and using project painting with an imported image.

You'll need more images to make this work, at least when you want to show your character from the side. It's not easy painting on a complex model especially if it's supposed to be deformed and still look good. Here's a good start: [this video]

I'm following this really good tutorial, about Texture Painting, from CG Boost ( [this video] ). At some point the the paint doesn't work because of flipped faces I realised that the paint doesnt work on some faces. On a comment of this video on youtube, someone stated that recalculate the normals. If you did so the paint actually worked. But it brought a question: On this image [LINK] I see that the red faces shows that the mesh is turned inside out, but this blue line show that the normals are facing out. Whats is the diference between face orientation an normals, and how can I make then to point to the same side ?

I'm completely new to blender and have been following CG Boost's beginner tutorials [this video] . I'm at the part where he is painting the knife blade, I already painted the handle of the knife. Unfortunately, when I select the knife blade and then switch from "Object Mode" to "Texture Paint", the UV islands I created for the knife blade don't show up in the left hand paint viewport like they do in the tutorial. Here's a comparison: My Screen [LINK] Tutorial Screen [LINK] Notice how in the tutorial screenshot that the UV islands appear above the texture paint image in dark gray. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Critical Blunder · 2021-07 · Blender Stack Exchange · on “How to stencil texture paint seamlessly?”

If you have modeled the apple using reference images showing each side, you can simply stencil the texture on it in the corresponding viewpoints (front, left, top, etc). Start with an aligned view like View > Viewpoint > Front ( Numpad 1 ) and paint on it. Paint mainly in the center of the apple because there will be massive stretching at the edges of the object. Then switch to the next point of view (e.g. View > Viewpoint > Right ( Numpad 3 )) and use the corresponding image (part) for the stencil. Repeat the steps for all visible sides of the apple. At the edges, a seamless transition results if you focus on the center for each side. [LINK] Clone apples. This is the same apple, three times
