What it is
A roughly 23-minute beginner tutorial from CG Cookie on using Blender's Rigify add-on to quickly build an animation-ready character rig. It shows how to fit the metarig to a character, generate the full rig, and attach the mesh to it.

I think you'd be better off using a character animation technique over a constraints-based setup. Why not use something like Rigify to quickly animate the character, and then use a very simple rig to bend the board. I first learned Rigify with this tutorial: Quick Rigging with Rigify [this video] As for bending the board, simply make an armature along the board with as many segments as you want. Then, parent with automatic weight the board to the armature. If you want, you can set up an IK Chain to make the bending a bit more realistic. Use the Action Editor to make actions for the board and the character, then put them together with the NLA Editor.

You appear to be using the initial metarig which rigify provides for you to scale and position to suit your character. After positioning this rig to your model you should then generate the animation friendly rig. The initial metarig - [LINK] The generate button is available in the armature properties [LINK] The animation rig that gets generated - [LINK] Notice that when the final rig is active it displays a rig layers panel in the properties sidebar (press N ) and while in pose mode a rig properties panel is available showing properties of the selected bones. CGCookie has a tutorial on using the rigify addon [this video] that demonstrates the steps needed to use rigify.

Oh dear, I think there might have been a misunderstanding. When you add a Rigify Armature, what you get at first is only the Meta-Rig. Its purpose is to give you the possibility to fit the bones to your character in Edit Mode. You're not supposed to add constraints to it yet, and some edits to the armature are also unsupported. Once you're done editing the bones (and not deleting them), you'd generate the 'real' rig using an operator. I've added a second Rigify Meta-Rig to illustrate that somewhere down the road, you might have accidentally edited the Meta-Rig in Edit Mode: [LINK] The armature on the left is yours, the one on the right a fresh rigify one. As you can see, there's relationship

Well your going from simple mesh editing to armature's. its not ehm the most simple thing to do for a starter. but here it is [this video]

You need to animate the location of the guitar and hands so that they are in sync with each other. Start with a pose for the body, then place the guitar in front of it and place the hands to match. This could mean adding keyframes every frame to keep the hands and guitar together. For your character, enable (or create) IK for the arms. This will allow you to place the hands and have them stay still as you move the body. Some child of constraints might help move the guitar and hands together while still allowing the hands to be moved independently. You may want to look at using the rigify addon to create a basic armature that you match to your character, then have it generate a more complex r

You are using x-mirror option: [LINK] But, if you name bones correctly, x-mirror will work for you. You need to name pairs of bone with postfixes " .R " and " .L " like " arm.L " and " arm.R ". If you do so, when you will paint weight group " arm.L ", " arm.R " will be symmetrical to " arm.L " Also, learn about rigify [this video]

Well fixed the error, the mesh wasn't selected with the joints, if anyone else come to this point, After generating the rig as above follow the following steps, Hide up the additional rigging stuff by H select the bone structure, you can find it in the layers in the display menu Ctrl + Z to get wireframe of the model select the mesh then the joint structure (Use shift) Then apply automatic weights (setting joint structure as the parent) For more info follow this tutorial: [this video]

You're not supposed to use the metarig as a rig. It's a tool for you to tell Rigify where your character's body parts are so he can generate a rig that fits him. ̈Please see a tutorial to learn how to set this up, like this one [this video] . It was for v2.7x so the UI is a little different, but Rigify hasn't changed since. Also, I wouldn't consider your mesh ready for animation. The topology simply will not give good deformations. And the mesh density is extremely uneven, it seems you've made a patchwork of parts from very different assets; which is fine on its own but require a unification work that is lacking here. I'd suggest you do a big retopology session first. And I'd advise you to keep t
