You should use both: the update-current-35 [LINK] is a p2 site [LINK] you can enter in your "Available Software List" when installing a new software in Eclipse. Eclipse will detect both features and plugins within that address p2 site, and will install them all. See this Scala installation video [this video] . The difference between feature and plugin is explained here [LINK] . Don't forget to use the right Eclipse version for this installation: Eclipse Classic 3.5.2 [LINK] . If you need to install it manually, you should copy the full content of the plugins and features directories from that p2 site in a shared dropins [LINK] you reference in your eclipse.ini (see this eclipse.ini for eclipse3.5

I just installed the Scala IDE Eclipse plugin with a fresh install of Eclipse Indigo. I followed the getting started youtube video [this video] on the scala-ide.org main page on a fresh installation of Indigo. Instead of showing the complete documentation for the String Java class, it shows "type String = String" I did notice incidentally by looking at the project properties, that in the scala-library.jar and others in the project, under "javadoc location," they show "(None) - non modifiable." I'm not sure if this is the problem, or if the Scala editor gets its documentation somewhere else. Has anyone else experienced this and/or figured out how to fix it? Thanks!

I installed the scala plugin through eclipse (Mars) and experience problems when it comes to documentation. When I am creating a new Java project and write code I get documentation when hovering over classes and their methods as usual. However when I make a new Scalaproject it does not work. For example: ... var s: String = "test" println(s.charAt(1)) ... Now when I hover over String or charAt I only get def charAt(x$1: Int): Char in the little box that appears. Note, not only do Java classes and their methods not have any documentation but also Scala methods and classes. I already tried reinstalling the whole setup as well as using the Scala IDE that can be downloaded directly from Scala ID
