I'm following this tutorial [this video] and I'm working on an app where each user has it's own list of plants. So two tables: Table A : PLANTS : plant_name:string, temp:float, humidity:float, ... Table B: Devise Users : default params from devise [LINK] . Originally the table PLANTS didn't have a column to show that a plant was created by the user with id. So I added that using the following steps: In models/plant.rb I added the following: belongs_to :user In models/user.rb I added the following has_many :plants In GitBash : rails g migration add_created_by_to_plants created_by:integer:index Then push migration in GitBash : rails db:migrate So now the schema looks like this: ActiveRecord::Schema

When I fill-out the "sign up" page in my project developed with ROR and devise, and submit, I get the error above. Can anyone help with a solution? I am a noob just started learning ROR with the free YT course " Learn Ruby on Rails - Full Course [this video] ", the objective is to create a "friends" address book, and then allow people to sign up and create their own address book. By following the instructions I have installed ROR on my Windows 10 machine and created the address book using scaffold. Then styled the views / webpages using bootstrap. It is all working on my local machine as shown in the video. Now I'm at the part of installing devise for User Management. I've installed that gem acco

I'm currently learning about Ruby on Rails, following this particular tutorial [this video] After execute the command rails g scaffold friends name:string email:string phone:string followed by rails db:migrate I ended up with a CRUD structure to that simple friend model (name, email and phone all strings). Everything is good and all works fine except when i go to [LINK] and the list of friends is showed in a weird way! I was expecting a table where each row is an friend, instead of that i end up with a vertical structure where each friend is displayed vertically... index.html.erb <p style="color: green"><%= notice %></p> <h1>Friends</h1> <div id="friends"> <% @friends.each do |friend| %> <%= rend

When using $rails g scaffold it doesn't make any css stylesheets like how it used to in older versions. Is there any way I can make the command run how it used to? Or modify it to still make those style sheets (without installing an older version of ruby)I'm following along this tutorial: [this video] and am about 1hr and 6minutes in. I'm currently using rails v7.0.3.1

I have a post function in my app that takes in the following parameters: a title, the content of the post, a boolean for anonymity, a boolean for graphic content and a string to record the username of the user who made the post. I have all of these fields specified in the new post form of my rails app. Unfortunately, when I go to submit the post, I receive an error saying: User must exist . This is happening because the User parameter is not getting posted even though I have added the parameter in my controller: #app/controllers/posts_controller.rb def post_params params.require(:post).permit(:title, :content, :anonymous, :graphic, :user_name); end My schema also has a parameter for the user
