I live in the Southern Hemisphere and like most 40 something year olds I follow whats happening in the States from a distance. I've been reading and watching a fair bit of Jacob Appelbaum and reading Glenn Greenwald's posts which seem to be fair and well written. Democracy Now also does some interesting interviews with Jacob and William Binney. Some stuff I recommend to have a look at... in no particular order. You might find it interesting/useful to read about: steganography[1], anonymous remailers[2] (particularly the Mixminion[3] type), the Paranoid Security Guide[4] (which was on HN today[5]), and a nice talk on privacy and anonymity options[6][7] There were also a couple of lists of darknets on HN recently, but I can't find them right now. Worth listening to Jake Appelbaum's 'digital anti repression workshop' [1]. In this he explains why he takes the hard-drive out of his laptop and just uses a TailsOS thumb-drive for his computing. It would be actually hilarious when staff ask to peruse the contents of your computer for contraband, only to discover the laptop doesn't have a hard-drive. [1]: part 1 [LINK] [#]: part 2 [this video]
