What it is
A short Blender tutorial by Moby Motion showing how to turn several networked computers into a free render farm for animation. It uses a shared network save location with Overwrite turned off and Placeholders turned on, so each machine skips frames that another has already rendered. It works with any render engine but is meant for animation, not stills.

[this video] This is Moby Motion showing how to do this and he made key point about UNCLICK Overwrite and Click on Placeholder because this keeps track of what each machine has done. The tutorial is 9 minutes and wow cool

there is an explanation here: [this video] but i don't know C4D and it sounds like you are search for a oneclick - solution and i fear this is only possible with a paid add-on

Just a quick question -- I'm wanting to setup a small 'render farm' for an animation I'm working on. There's a tutorial here on building and configuring one [LINK] , which uses the network render plugin. Alternatively, there's another I saw here [this video] that looks at using a network save location, and setting up individual computers with the scene + assets all rendering different frames of the animation, and it uses a method to check if a frame has already been rendered. The 'network render' makes the most sense (apart from some additional setup) - however, feels more straight-forward as compared to the second method. I was just wondering: is there any difference between the two, or are they

Update: Issue solved with Network Render issue resolved with one other method. Now, I have to figure out how to get all of the frames that were shown through this method: [this video]
