Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange users link it when they are stuck at a specific step of the beer tutorial, and as a general recommendation for learning glass and liquid rendering.

What it is

A nearly hour-long Blender tutorial by Andrew Price of Blender Guru that walks through modelling, shading and rendering a glass of beer from start to finish. It covers glass modelling, the liquid and foam materials, and lighting for a photorealistic result.

What seems to be happening is the light is hitting the bottom of the glass, going through it, and then reflecting upwards hitting the top of the bottle, creating a weird reflection. The reflection changes based on the angle you look at the object. I'm pretty sure that this is working how it's supposed to. It just looks weird to the eye. There are a few things you could check/do to fix it though. Check to see if the liquid, is touching the glass. This is known to cause artifacts. You could change the camera position or lighting to make it less apparent. You could also adjust light bounces in the light paths drop down in the render panel. (this would decrease the realism, but you could lower t

I think there are many things to explain. You need almost an entire process of creating a scene with materials, lightning and setup rendering. There are not "one click" solution. This need study of a lot of things. In this tutorial you can find some very useful tips how to create what you need. [this video]

I just watched the Blender Guru video How to Make a Beer in Blender [this video] and stopped at the point where it advises us to make the liquid slightly larger in diameter than the inner diameter of the glass - approximately half way between the inner and outer walls. I then turned to Fluid in a Glass (and why you’ve been doing it wrong your whole life) [LINK] where the video points. Although the wording there isn't exactly correct, I think that I understand the point. In the glass shader where you specify IOR, you are not actually specifying the index of refraction of the material inside the volume defined by the mesh. You are actually only specifying the ratio of the index of refractions of th

I was doing my best to follow this tutorial from the Blender Guru, but, alas, 8 minutes in I've run into a real spot, a few moments after this spot in the video [this video] . I can only hide the selected, not hide all BUT the selected. (Edits then effects ONLY the selected vertices.) I know, there is a way to invert selection, but it doesn't look like he does this. Also, what does he mean do he says, "This is not perfectly aligned..."

I am trying to slide a bunch of selected edges past an edge, as is done at 19:27 of the blender guru tutorial on "how to make a beer" [this video] . Alt RMB to select the edge loop Press G twice Move the mouse cursor up and down, while holding Alt The edges only move down and also along the plane in which the circular loop resides (imagine for instance the top of the cylinder being the loop, and I'm trying to slide the edges to form a concavity in the cylinder) I want the edges to move past the vertex loop.. Can someone help me?

I am doing this Blender Guru Tutorial How To make a Beer [this video] . At about 18:30 minutes Blender Guru is making a duplicate of a selection (that has to become the beer in the glass). I am trying to do the same but somehow I cannot make the duplicate. Here is my blend file [LINK] . Can someone help me?

I've been following this blender guru tutorial ( Link to relevant section of tutorial [this video] ) However, once I try to render the beer material it is coming out black [LINK] I've followed very closely with the tutorial and I can't figure out why i'm getting what i'm getting. A similar question has been asked before, but the solution did not solve my problem. Any help would be appreciated. My .blend file can be found here: [LINK]
