This question has come up in the comments of Why don't the Jedi use tutaminis instead of using their lightsabers? [LINK] Here's the relevant clip: Han Solo vs Darth Vader encounter on Cloud City [this video] Some think Vader was using tutaminis or absorbing the bolts. Some think Vader was deflecting the bolts. Some think Vader was blocking the bolts by either strong armor or a Force shield. In the video, it's evident that at least one blast is deflected, because you can see it hit the wall (by the door) that leaves a scorch mark. However, the other shots are unaccounted for visually. Is there a different view (wide-screen VA standard), behind-the-scenes, extra footage, script indication, or offic

I dunno. Solo's blaster shots during his encounter [this video] with Vader look more like they were deflected than an absorbed.

Han's training remote is used for target practice and to allow him to practice his " quick-draw [this video] " Luke stepped back to the center of the hold, activated his lightsaber, and returned his attention to the hovering remote. Ben had rightly assumed that Han kept a remote on board for quick-draw target practice, and had programmed the device to fire harmless sting bursts for Luke to deflect with his lightsaber. Luke kept his eyes on the remote and batted at two fired bursts as Han Solo entered the hold. - SW: A New Hope - Junior Novelisation [LINK] [LINK] Image from Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary [LINK] and from The Weapon of a Jedi: A Luke Skywalker Adventure [LINK] He realized his ligh

Right concept, wrong movie and person. In the beginning of TFA, Kylo Ren stops a blaster/lightning bolt with the Force that was fired by Poe Dameron. In the scene above I don't think Vader is using the Force at all. Remember, his arm is metal. I think he just blocks the blaster bolt ( note the sparks and smoke that result [this video] )

In ESB, Han Solo (who shoots first, BTW) shoots Vader 5 times and he just fends the blasts off with the palms of his hands. His suit must therefore be armored against blasters.
