While Qui-Gon and Darth Maul were having their final fight, Obi-Wan was simply watching them "trapped" behind a single shield/laser/plasma(?) panel [this video] . So, at this point, why didn't he help out his master? He could have: pushed Maul to the hole; pulled Maul's lightsaber (or other kind of distractions); pushed his master away just before the lightsaber stab (after he got punched); melted [LINK] the sides of that panel to rejoin the fight... During those precious seconds, was he thinking it would be rude to interrupt his master or was he simply relaxing a bit? Edit It seems that some people comment-complaining and downvoting because they feel T he F orce is not to be used against "force-

After a brief staredown where the camera zooms in on Darth Maul and Qui-Gon's face, both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan charge Darth Maul -- but not before Obi Wan looks like he just got pelted in the forehead and goes "Ugh!" (this is right before Maul back-flips to a higher bridge) [LINK] Better illustrated in this video [this video] Perhaps Darth Maul did some weird Force thing off-screen, but it still seems very strange. What is happening here?

Yes, it is done in movie canon. In The Phantom Menace , during the duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul, after Qui-Gong Jinn is impaled, Obi-Wan is dangling in the pit. He then rises twenty-odd feet in the air and performs a flip. It's pretty clear this is not just a feat of arm strength. Besides that being an impossible act (even for a Jedi) using strength alone, he appears to be rising at a more-or-less constant rate. See roughly the 4:35 mark.

Not sure if TPM is considered canon, but it's right there in the movie this clip 2:05-2:25 [this video] . From the first time I saw this, I thought it odd that in the middle of a fight, he trades any advantage of readiness for a meditation pose. And for what? A clear mind & centered state of calm? There must be something else he's doing... There are no other obvious Force effects. I argue that when Jedi meditate, they are active in the Force. Do you recall Luke handstanding and floating rocks in TESB? Same thing: body still, huge Force activity.

@DVK I'm in agreement that Darth Maul shouldn't count. When we see both his halves fall down, it's pretty clear that his legs are tumbling together in one piece down the bottomless pit [this video] . Whence it follows that the two legs were both still attached to the torso.

Cites webejaxx · 2016-01 · Science Fiction & Fantasy Stack Exchange · on “Why didn't the Jedi/Sith use Force pull/push in the generator complex?”

In my opinion, the Jedi Knight games are poor references in this case. In those games, as in the The Force Unleashed games, Force Push is a satisfactory game element. They were designed to be fun, not realistic. Think of the sabre combat in those games; both you and the enemy gets hit by direct lightsaber strikes multiple times. In the 'real' world, even a small and brief contact with a lightsaber's enery beam has the potential to end the fight, look at Obi Wan being hit in the arm in Attack Of The Clones. Both Jedi and Sith are taught very early on to defend themselves against attacks through the Force. For example, have you tried using Force Push against the Jedi bosses in The Force Unleas

Cites Null · 2016-02 · Science Fiction & Fantasy Stack Exchange · on “What is the smallest object(s) that a Force user has manipulated?”

Legends There are depictions in Legends of Force users manipulating microscopic objects. One example is Darth Plagueis' manipulation of midi-chlorians in order to resurrect a person: On the same day [Plagueis and Sidious] had allowed Venamis to die. Then, by manipulating [Venamis'] midi-chlorians, which should have been inert and unresponsive, Plagueis had resurrected him. Darth Plagueis , p. 279 We know that midi-chlorians are microscopic because we are told that Midi-chlorians are a microscopic lifeform that reside within all living cells and communicates with the Force. Qui-Gon Jinn, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace Another example, as mentioned in the comments by @BMWurm, is Cilgh

All three of them were separated from each other by the force fields. You can see that Maul hits the field with his saber and is forced to wait until the field opens Here you can see the fields separating them: [LINK] The video shows the full sequence - around 120 seconds is where you see that Maul hits the field:

Cites RichS · 2017-03 · Science Fiction & Fantasy Stack Exchange · on “From where did Luke get kyber crystals to build a lightsaber?”

There is a fan theory [LINK] for how Luke got a crystal for his new lightsaber: His crystal came from Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsaber. After Darth Maul killed Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-wan Kenobi kept his master's lightsaber. This video clip shows Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsaber is green, just like Luke's new lightsaber. You can see it on this statue of when Obi-Wan Kenobi was a middle-aged man trekking across the desert on Tatooine. If you look carefully, you will see he has three lightsabers. His personal lightsaber is in his hand. Anakin's is the one with the silver hilt attached to his back cloak. Qui-Gon Jinn's is the one with the black hilt right next to Anakin's. (Not sure why he attached them to his clo

You said it yourself, Obi-Wan was just a Padawan. His master has been killed, he almost fell to Dark Side (remember Asajj Ventress [LINK] ). Fueled by his emotions of grief and hate, Obi-Wan did use Dark Side to press on with attack and momentarily overcame Maul's defense. Note that Obi-Wan uses Ataru [LINK] which itself is an aggressive form, and Obi-Wan is not a master of it. So, when he cut Maul's saber-staff in half, his first instinct was front flip, probably to cut down Maul from above. Yoda would probably do otherwise, but Obi-Wan was no Yoda. Later, when he was hanging in the pit, situation was so dire he had just one slim chance to save himself. In fact, out-of-universe, scene is ra
