Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange users link it as a go-to walkthrough when asking or answering how to make ropes, strings and chained rigid body setups.

Recommended by 3 people across 3 different months, 2018 to 2021.

What it is

A 17-minute Blender 2.79 tutorial from the Blender Rookie channel showing how to build a flexible rope or string from linked rigid bodies. It walks through chaining bodies together with rigid body constraints so the string reacts dynamically to gravity and motion.

I have a buoy on the surface of a fluid simulation that moves around. It has no Rigidbody attached, only a few rotation and location constraints which should cause no problem. I am wanting to create a rope that attaches to the floor of my simulation and the buoy. It should fold relatively naturally as the line slacks. I have attempted one tutorial which got me close, creating a rope that bends and is affected by gravity, but it breaks if I try to attach the end to the buoy. (Link Below) [this video] I have tried hooking a bezier curve but it didn't want to attach to the vertice. (The little icon said I couldn't :( ) If anyone has any tutorials or ideas, it would be great if you could post them. I

I'm following this tutorial: Blender3D Tutorial - How To Make Dynamic Rigid Body String [this video] on how to make a dynamic rigid body string and since it's made in 2.79 I'm having some trouble finding the settings shown here, specifically Chain by distance. [LINK] I found the connect setting in Blender 2.8, it's here, but not sure where the other settings are... [LINK] So the question is, where are the Rigid Body tools settings, specifically the connect body ones! Thanks so much for your help in advance!

Cloth Use Cloth sim not only for a string, but create a very simple lamp on string Than place your "lamp" object in place of cloth part represented a lamp, add Array modifier Surface Deform Modifier To transfer sim to your "lamp" object you can use a simpler Surface Deform modifier, so just a triangle can be use [LINK] or Mesh Deform Modifier In this case has to be whole "lamp" covered by mesh of cloth sim before Bind [LINK] [LINK] Rigid Body Try to check also Rigid Body Constraints - Blender Manual [LINK] or some tuts like here [LINK] , here [this video] or the best - check Nathan's answer :)

So I'm still a beginner in blender and I'm trying to make a simulation of a double pendulum. My problem is that the swings keep glitching out of their positions and wouldn't swing properly. I watched a tutorial about some dynamic rigid body strings ( [this video] ) and thought it might be cool to make a pendulum with just two swinging objects. There are three objects in the scene: The holder - set to rigid body passive First swing - rigid body active Third swing - rigid body active There are also two additional empties set to hinge constraint that act as pivot points between the objects. Blend file: [LINK] [LINK] [LINK] This is what happens when I press the play button for the simulation. I tried
