Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange answerers point people to it when a texture on a large surface shows obvious tiling and they need a node-based way to hide the repetition.

Recommended by 5 people across 6 different months, 2020 to 2024.

What it is

A Blender Guru tutorial by Andrew Price on tiling textures without visible repetition or seams. It builds node setups that break up repeating patterns, and offers a free downloadable Poliigon Uber Mapping node group that randomly rotates and varies tiles.

This should be your basic material for any Image [LINK] To increase the texture size, Simply increase the scale in the mapping node [LINK] WARNING However with most textures, you will see noticeable tiling To reduce the amount of tiling, i suggest looking into Blender Guru's Video here: [this video]

Create an Empty. Add a UV Project modifier on the tiles and make sure its the last modifier in the stack. Set Object to your Empty. Now you can translate and scale the empty to manipulate the UV's. [LINK] [LINK] You can use the free Poliigon Uber Mapping Node [this video] ( Download Link [LINK] ) that has mosaic rotation and noise to fix tilling patterns.

Just combine a diamond pattern normal map [LINK] with an organic texture [LINK] on top. Scale the normal map to your needs Add the organic texture with BlenderGuru's Ubermapping Node [this video] to scale without tiling Done [LINK] [LINK]

there is a node group named "PoliigonUberMapping node" available that randomly rotates the tiles of the texture to break the repeating pattern. It works well for irregular textures like your smudges. Have a look here: [this video]

For the texture of the apartment, try a PBR material that you can download from sites like [LINK] There you find various materials. -- With an *RGB Curves* node you can adjust the diffuse color as you like. Use the normal map and the roughness map. The Ambient Occlusion (AO) map is usually mixed with the diffuse color. -- To get rid of the repetitive pattern have a look here: [this video] (Uber mapping node)

You can use the free Anti-Seam addon, it is explained here [LINK] , the addon is available here [LINK] . You can also try this addon [this video] created by Blender Guru. A trick would be to mix the texture with itself with a Noise Texture as factor, the second version being scaled up a bit. Let's say that it is your basic texture, we can see that it is repeated: [LINK] Create this node setup: [LINK] Now the repetition is much less noticeable as the pattern is mixed with a larger version of itself: [LINK]

I'm making a terrain by Blender Guru tutorial: [this video] I wanna sculpt my terrain(not using displament map), but it distort textures in circle... [LINK]

I'll try to explain the best I can I'm trying to build a texture, using an image as reference: [LINK] I tried using this 3 combinations: This was my final shot. From Sam Bowman - [LINK] My plan was to get the different directions and twists, but always having a "center" is bugging me a lot. also is not very similar [LINK] This was my base, because of the spiral effect. But it just had 1 center From OmarSquircleArt - [LINK] [LINK] I was hoping to make a Spiral in each "Division" of the texture, and be able to move the center of it. But got nothing close to what I want. From Blender Guru - [this video] [LINK] I tryied to combine the 3 methodes, but not with much luck I understand enough of procedur

@MikoCG I remembered one more detail. From this [this video] video I dowloaded a blend file with nodes and applied one of them to randomly rotate tiled texture of mud near the road. And approximately after that it started freezing (even after I disabled the node)

1). You could use image as planes to use at certain angles from the camera view (I assume you've tried translating the coordinates in the world texture nodes and it still looks 'fish eye'). 2). You could create a huge floor/horizon plane. BlenderGuru has a free node group that helps with seamless textures which would be ideal for the grass in your scene. BlenderGuru link [this video]
