Create a Reveal Effect in Blender Geometry Nodes using Linear Falloff
Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it
Blender Stack Exchange users cite it as the source tutorial when they try to rebuild its reveal and falloff setup in newer Blender versions where the old Attribute nodes no longer exist.

What it is
A Blender 2.93 Geometry Nodes tutorial from Entagma that builds a particle-like reveal effect on a hand model. It uses a dot-product linear falloff to drive the scale and position of many instances, then adds 3D noise to warp the edge and make it look organic.

I’m trying to create a displacement/reveal effect on an object with distributed points, similar to the one shown in this tutorial: [this video] . The issue is that the tutorial uses Blender 2.9, and some of the nodes like the Attribute Vector Math Node have been changed or removed in Blender 4.2. I was considering using Set Position, but I can only manage to create a basic 1-axis offset, which doesn’t look as dynamic or interesting. [LINK] [LINK] If anyone has suggestions on how to replicate the effect using Geometry Nodes system, I’d be very grateful! Thanks in advance!

I know what is the normal of a plane/face, but what does it mean when the domain of the normal is a point? For some context: I'm watching this tutorial [this video] ; at the timestamp 12:30, he multiplies the normal of the points with another attribute.

@Joachim Im using the latest stable version of blender. If all else fails I'll just have to download the version he was using, i would like to learn how to recreate it in the latest build though. Heres the link to the tutorial [this video] I did see that question but its not specific to what im trying to do.

Following Entagma's formulation [this video] .. In GN Fields, to store an attribute on the points of the modified object representing a clamped linear (0->1) gradient between the locations of external objects A and B, you would now do this: [LINK] For this behaviour: [LINK] [LINK]

Here I am following a tutorial ( the hand reveal [this video] ) where Entagma uses the Attribute Vector Math in Geometry Nodes in Blender 2.93.0 beta but I don't see it anymore in Blender 4.0 and, my question is, how can I replace it ? Here you can find the screenshot from the tutorial and the screenshot with my datas : from Entagma's tutorial : [LINK] my datas : [LINK] link to the blender file : [LINK] I also couldn't find the Point Instance node, I "solved" this by dragging the cube file directly into the Geometry Nodes board (see Object Info) then I connected it on Instance on Points as seen on the screenshot but, I'm not sure if it's the correct/best way to do it ? kindly
