Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange answerers point people to it when someone wants to turn a photo or footage into projected 3D geometry, or needs a camera-projection workflow to catch light or distort an image.

What it is

A 14-minute Blender 2.8 tutorial by CGMatter on camera mapping (projection mapping) to turn a single photo into a simple 3D scene. It uses the free fSpy tool and its Blender add-on to match the camera, then projects the photo onto geometry.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean (what's a CNC?) but the short answer is, the 3D information needs to be available somehow. Blender cannot invent or deduce it. My suggestions: you can take 2D to 3D if you have enough visual elements. That means a few pictures. Meshroom can help you. You can remodel a scene. For sceneries, rooms and the like, fSpy can help for camera angles and measurements This tutorial about projection mapping can help: [this video] , but there will be no miracles. It works well with planes, mostly. You may be after parallax effect, which can be achieved as explained here: [LINK] For grey scale relief, there is a Gimp filter that does it (something like emboss). If you want to

You would camera project parts of your video to objects within the Blender scene and those objects catch the surrounding light. Than you would comp it over your footage. here is a small YT Video that shows the process with an Image but you can also use Video or Image Frames - but be aware that you have a good tracking or you will get sliding effects [this video] ohhh and for sure BlenderGuru's Camera Mapping tutorial [LINK] if you set up your scene like this, you can have your NeonSign lighten Up the surrounding Areas.

I am designing a poster. The printed poster should run around a corner. The content of the poster (text) should look correct from one perspective in the room. So a forced perspective. The flat poster shows a distorted typeface. To distort the text correctly, I would like to project the text in Blender (3.5) onto a corner (basically a cube) from the camera's point of view and export the resulting texture (i.e. the distorted text) as an image again. Unfortunately I can't find any good instructions for this. Currently I follow this tutorial: [this video] Here a UVProject Modifier is used to project time UVMap onto the object. This works moderately well if you increase the geometry by subdivision. As
